How To Keep Your Chi Hair Straightener Clean And Working Like New

May 15th, 2008 · No Comments

No matter how much you use your CHI flat iron eventually it will get dirty. And if you don’t take the time to properly clean it, the performance will suffer. The reason is because oils from your hair and styling gels will stick to the Farouk flat iron plates. This can cause the surface to be uneven. It also result in cold spots on really dirty flat irons.

The answer to the problem is to regularly clean your Farouk flat iron. How do you do this? Well, the answer is quite easy actually. First of all, unplug your CHI flat iron and allow it to cool for at least 10 to 15 minutes. Next take the recommended cleaning product for your Farouk flat iron and apply it to a very soft cloth. Gently wipe the surface of the heating plates clean. This make take more than one pass if this is your first time or if you have not cleaned your tool in a long while.

Take care not to use any household cleaning products that you think might work. They will sometimes contain abrasives which could scratch the surface of the plates, definitely something your don’t want to do.

If you use your CHI hair straightener very often (5 or more times per week) or if you always use a heat protectant on your hair before straightening it, than it is recommended that you clean it once every week or two. If you use your Farouk flat iron less often, then you can consider cleaning it once every 3 or 4 weeks. If you follow these easy steps, you hair straightener will work just like new for as long as possible.
